Alpha

Upstream CLI

Install the CLI, sign in through your browser, and work with repositories and Change Requests.

The Upstream CLI is in alpha. Commands and flags can change between releases. Send feedback to support@coline.app.

The upstream CLI brings repository and Change Request workflows to your terminal. It also installs a Git credential helper, so HTTPS clone, fetch, and push use your Upstream identity without pasted tokens.

Install

curl -fsSL https://downloads.coline.dev/upstream/install.sh | sh

The installer selects the published release for macOS or glibc-based Linux on x64 or Arm64, verifies its SHA-256 checksum, and places upstream under ~/.local/bin by default.

Run upstream --version before signing in. If macOS kills the executable, or it prints no version, report the version and platform at Support. Do not keep reinstalling the same release or use a debugger to bypass the failure: Git authentication uses this executable too.

For agent tools and MCP, check that the release manifest advertises capabilities.agentProtocolVersion of at least 1, then run upstream agent tools. Hosted documentation can be newer than your installed binary.

Windows and musl-based Linux distributions are not currently supported.

upstream auth login

The CLI prints a one-time browser URL and waits for you to approve the request using your existing Coline identity. After approval, it stores a revocable CLI session and configures the Git credential helper automatically.

Confirm the session:

upstream auth status

Push a folder

upstream push

Pushes the current folder to Upstream and creates the repository on first use. Signed in, it creates a private repository in your namespace. Signed out, it creates an unclaimed repository and prints a claim link. See Push without an account.

Clone a repository

upstream repo clone {namespace}/{repository}

For HTTPS operations, the helper mints a short-lived repository credential and limits its scope to your actual repository role. Use --ssh only when SSH appears in the repository's Clone menu.

Keep it current

upstream update

The CLI supports stable and latest release channels. Read the CLI command reference for the complete command surface.
